Just when you think it's working... it's not. Spontenaeity is a wonderful quality to look for in your significant other... less so in your web browser. Since Internet Explorer doesn't follow universally-adopted standards, you never really know what will go wrong, when or where (while the developer has a blast figuring out why).
Your identity is at risk every time you use the web. Almost all online malware & adware is targeted at Internet Explorer which alone has more vulnerabilities than all other browsers combined. New exploits are discovered daily, several affecting tens of millions of users (often without their knowledge).
Some things will never work. The modern web has universally adopted standards carefully crafted by the W3C and ECMA, few of which Internet Explorer implement. Developers spend months creating complicated work-arounds, but often features can't be recreated leaving many applications crippled for IE users everywhere.
